Using my 17" laptop's cooling pad, and removing the battery while plugged into the wall with this netbook yields a totally worry-free experience and the entire case feels cool to the touch, even after a few hours of use. I have a second PC, which has plenty of power in it to do anything I could have possibly fathomed doing in a laptop, so I simply was not interested in power for this purchase, only keeping heat from being an issue, and being able to work away from my wall plug b/c battery life had dwindled to ~20 minutes. I had it undervolted and using a Zalman cooling pad through it's 2.5 year lifespan. Pros: Bought this netbook to replace a 17" behemoth that fried 2 video adapters, the motherboard itself, and finally a hard drive. Unlike an earlier post, this system DOES NOT include Bluetooth, look at the more expensive version for that feature. When I'm on the road, I usually tether off my Blackberry. I also upgraded the RAM to 2gb (snap to install). This fits perfectly in a Case Logic sleeve #LNEO-10 with plenty of room for the charger and a wireless mouse (the Rosewill RM-8500 is PERFECT). If I wanted dual-core power for gaming, I'd have spend a lot more and had to pack that around too. Compared to my previous laptop, this may be overall a tad slower, but it more than makes up for that by being small, lightweight, and portable. Overall Review: This is my first netbook and its everything I imagined it would be. The speakers are a little quiet, get some headphones for watching a movie. I was one of the first to purchase this system when it was released and I can't find a major flaw at all.

The wireless has great range, the keyboard is almost full size, and the charger is perfect (small with the ability to rotate the prongs).Ĭons: As a netbook, I won't even mention things like no cd drive and I don't think its an issue that the inside glossy plastics attract fingerprints.

I had the Win7 RC installed for a bit which included Aero and themes and this Acer netbook had no problems running them, so feel free to upgrade if you desire a more robust OS. Windows 7 is a great OS and though starter is slightly restrained, it still functions nicely. The battery can last around 8 hours with the proper settings (balanced power plan, slightly dimmed screen). Pros: I purchased this because it was a netbook and therefore small, lightweight, and great battery life were key points, and Acer covers them all very well here.
